- Description
- This sole source procurement action is for Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) equipment that will be used for new installations, replacements, upgrades and maintenance of equipment used for the control and monitoring of electrical power substations. Western has spent considerable resources (estimated to be several thousand man hours) in developing the GE Energy Systems D20 RTU to work with our Supervisory Control And Data Aquisition (SCADA) system. This has involved having multiple protocols enabled on a single chip set which allows the use of the multi-porting feature of these RTU?s. Western has GE D20 RTU spare parts on hand and has received extensive training in the use and maintenance of the RTU?s. Specific design packages and drawings have been developed for the D20 RTU to facilitate the fast and most economic means for fabrication of this equipment. This equipment has proven to be very reliable and Western has been purchasing this equipment exclusively since 1985. The various modules and equipment procured will be used to fabricate or upgrade an GE Energy D20 RTU to the specific size and requirements for each individual application and will meet Westerns critical responsibility of providing control and data acquisition of electrical power substations as mandated by FERC and WECC.
