- Description
- Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Dahlgren, VA intends to award a sole-source contract to McClung-Logan Equipment Company, Inc., 4601 Washington Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21227 for the lease with option to purchase of a Finlay Model 883 screening and reclamation system to be used in an environmental reclamation effort on a site containing scrap metal as well as live munitions items. This equipment is the only one known to NSWCDD that meets all the special requirements for screening and reclamation of soil containing unexpended ordnance items, including track mounting and operation of tracks and conveyor belts by radio remote control; a straight path from input to output that allows for closed-circuit video system monitoring; compatibility with loading via a remote control excavator; a screen deck that accommodates screens from one to three inches; and, as near ly as possible, level transfer of unscreened material from conveyor to screen and of oversize material from screen to ground to minimize shock and thus the reduce the potential for detonation of unexpended munitions items on the equipment. Any interested sources must be able to provide equipment that meets all of the above special requirements. The contract will include an initial lease period of four months; an option to extend the lease for two additional months; an option to integrate a rotating belt magnet into the system, if required based on soil analysis of initial reclamation samples; installation, setup and training; and, an option to purchase the equipment at the end of the lease period. Award is to be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (FAR 13). The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren Laboratory Procurement Division has implement ed Electronic Commerce (EC) in the acquisition area; therefore, this synopsis and any applicable amendments will be available on the World Wide Web at http://www.nswc.navy.mil/wwwDL/XD/SUPPLY.
