- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Coherent Laser Group of Santa Clara, California on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source, for a laser system. The laser system shall consist of the following lasers: Quantity One (1) Single-frequency all solid state Nd:YV04 green pump laser with >10W output, Quantity One (1) Actively stabilized scanning single frequency ring Ti:sapphire laser, and Quantity One (1) All solid state, single longitudinal mode Nd:YV04 green (532 nm) laser with >10W output. The Nd:YV04 laser shall be installed in conjunction with an existing Coherent Model 899-21 ring laser presently in dye mode. The Contractor shall convert the existing Coherent Model 899-21 laser to Ti:sapphire. Single-frequency output, stabilized Ti:sapphire lasers are commercially available from only one source, Coherent Laser Group. Since, Coherent is the only source to manufacture both the Single-frequency, stabilized Ti:sapphire lasers and the Nd:YV04 laser, they can deliver the complete laser system, which meets the Government's minimum requirements. In addition, as the original manufacturer of the Coherent Model 899-21 laser, Coherent is the most qualified to perform the conversion to the Ti:sapphire. The delivery time for this requirement is a maximum of one year after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures under the Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by TBD. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334516 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
