- Prepublication notice of availability of prospectus soliciting proposals for the award of a concession contract for operation of lodging services, day tour boat services, food and beverage services, retail services, ground transportation, marine fuel service, camper drop-off, baggage stowage, and public showers and laundry The National Park Service (NPS) intends to issue a prospectus within the next 30 days inviting proposals to operate the principal park concession at Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, Alaska. The contract that will result will authorize the concessioner to provide the services listed above. The term of the contract is proposed to be approximately 10 years, expiring on December 31, 2013. This is a summer seasonal operation with expected gross receipts of approximately $3.5 million in 2004, the first year of the new contract. The prospectus will contain an explanation of the business opportunity, the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract, the proposal instructions and proposal package (including the selection factors). The solicitation, selection and award of the concession contract will be conducted pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51. Each copy of the prospectus will cost $60.00. An electronic copy will be available on the internet without cost at www.nps.gov/glba The NPS has determined that Huna Totem, 9301 Glacier Hwy, Juneau, AK 99801 and Goldbelt, Inc., 9097 Glacier Hwy, Suite 200, Juneau, AK 99801 qualify for the statutory preferences (preferred operators) provided by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, Section 1307(b) and 36 CFR Part 13, Subpart D. Preferred operator "means a Native Corporation that is determined under 36 CFR Sec. 13.85 to be "most directly affected" by the establishment or expansion of a park are by ANILCA, or a local resident as defined in theis subpart." (36 CFR 13.81(h)).
