Description
NASA/MSFC has a requirement for SPACE THERMAL SIMULATION MODULE AND QUARTZ LAMPS The simulator module shall be a lightweight, low-blockage-area, modular, radiant heating unit. The simulator module reflector shall be designed to use T3-style halogen lamps on a stainless steel substrate to provide heat. The reflector and other components of the simulator module shall be composed of low outgassing materials such as Gold, Stainless Steel, Steatite, Quartz and Ceramic coating. The simulator module shall be rated for continuous duty for approximately 3500 hours. The simulator module shall be arrayed to produce from near zero to approximately 450 watts per square foot on a target surface. Electrical connection shall be made to the simulator module via combination mounting clamp/power bus clips or via holes provided on the electrical bus bar. The simulator module shall be 100 percent compatible with lamp array fixtures in use in the Environmental Test Facility. Diagram of the Space Thermal Simulation Module attached. Research Inc., Model 5236-05-A: 5 inch heater length, 9.13 inch overall length OR EQUAL. Research Inc., Model 5236-10-A: 10 inch heater length, 14.13 inch overall length OR EQUAL. Research Inc., Model 5236-16-A: 16 inch heater length, 20.13 inch overall length OR EQUAL. T3 QUARTZ INFRARED LAMP The quartz infrared lamp shall consist of a helically wound tungsten filament encased in a clear quartz envelope. The lamp shall have a high-intensity heat source with peak wavelengths between 0.78 and 2 microns. The lamp shall yield 90 percent output within three seconds and dissipates 90 percent energy within five seconds. The lamp heat flux densities shall range from 100-watts/linear inch to as high as 833-watts/linear inch. The tungsten filament shall be supported by either tantalum disks or through deflection winding of the filament, to create the support from the filament itself. The lamp electrical connections shall be made through flexible pigtail leads. The leads shall be installed so the leads have a small amount of slack to allow for thermal expansion during operation. Research Inc. Model 057541-001: 500 watts T3 Quartz lamp. 5" heated length OR EQUAL. Research Inc. Model 057541-004: 1600 watts T3 Quartz lamp. 16" heated length OR EQUAL. The specifications and drawings are linked above or may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . ] This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than AUGUST 14, 2003. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".
