- Description
- The Naval Undersea Warfare Center will be issuing a procurement set aside for Small Business for 5 ea. Tunnel Thrusters w/Motor Drive, which will be used to move a torpedo. The tunnel thrusters must completely fit radial into a 12.75"?shell diameter, axially through a 6? diameter tunnel and weigh under 8 lbs. The thrusters also need to produce at least 25 lb. of thrust (in a tunnel) forward and reverse when only being supplied with 80 to 100 volts dc. A motor control unit must be available. The thruster must be able to rapidly change directions with minimal delay and no slipping; this would involve the thruster motor to be directly coupled to the propeller. The depth rating is >2000 feet. The motor controller unit should have 0.5 to 1.0 hp. Delivery should be within two weeks after award. The solicitation will be posted on the NUWC Web Page no earlier than 8 August 2003. The proposed will be solicited using SAP and commercial item procedures as set forth in FAR Parts 12 and 13.
