- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis and under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Newport Corporation of Irvine, California, for an xyz integrated stage controller. A 3-axis closed loop ultra-precise xyz stage is currently being used on an existing piece of equipment within the Nano-scale Metrology Group at NIST. The equipment under this procurement is required to be able to plug directly into NIST's current systems without any additional development work. The closed loop resolution of the translation axes are required to be equal to or better than 50 nanometers. The closed loop resolution of the rotation axis shall be equal to or better than 0.0003 degrees. The new stage is required to be 100% compatible with NIST's existing equipment from a software and hardware perspective. The controller is required to meet the following specifications: 1) 80 millimeter (mm) x 80 mm x 360 degree ultra-precision motion; 2) programmable translational velocities of 0.01 micrometer per second to 100 millimeter/second; 3) programmable rotational velocities of 0.003 to 200 degrees per second; 4) shall weigh less than 20 pounds; 5) have a load capacity of 5 pounds; 6) 0.75 micrometer straightness/flatness on each translational axis; 7) xy orthogonality of 0.0015 degrees; 8) 20,000 hours Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) reliability; and 9) Overall stage height of less than 125.3 millimeter. *** Delivery is F.O.B. Destination and is required within 6 weeks after receipt of order. *** The Government anticipates the award of a fixed price purchase order. This notice of intent is not a required for competitive quotations and no solicitation package will be issued. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive requirement.
