- The U.S National Arboretum at3501 New York Avenue N.E., Washington, DC is in the process of data basing existing herbarium sheets in the National Arboretum Herbarium, the premiere repository of accessions relating to ornamental plants and their wild relatives. We currently have approximately 8,300 herbarium sheets that we need to have entered into the existing BG-Base system, a software application developed specifically for botanical gardens and arboreta. The work will involve a data entry service supplying expertise in BG-Base as well as in handling herbarium specimens (one per sheet) and archival collections, together with knowledge of botany and expertise in plant taxonomy. The specimens cannot leave the Herbarium unless by prior arrangement approved by the Herbarium Curator, therefore, all work is to be completed on site at the Herbarium of the U.S. National Arboretum unless specific exemption is granted. Completion of project shall be on or before September 30, 2004. The North American Industry Classification System (Naics) code is 11331. The solicitation is scheduled for issuance on or about August 14, 2003. The solicitation will be posted in www.Fedbizopps.gov. It is the responsibility of the contractor to check the website for the solicitation, as well as any other amendments that may arise. All responsible sources may submit a written quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. Anticipated award date will be on or about September20, 2003.
