Description

NA Project work consists of removing shoals along the Entrance Channel Cut-1N. The contract will require the removal of approximately 175,000 cubic yards (cy) of material from Cut-1N between Station 100+00 and Station 220+00 with beach placement at the desig nated beach disposal area located along the beach at the north end of Fernandina Beach (approximately 4 miles from the project site). The contract will also require the removal of approximately 25,000 cy of material from Cut-1N between Station 220+00 and Station 230+00 (north half of channel) with placement in the designated nearshore disposal area, D/A-N, located approximately 7 miles from the project site. Finally, the contract will require the removal of approximately 725,000 cy of material from Cut-1N between Station 220+00 and Station 230+00 (south half of channel) and Station 230+00 and Station 340+00 with placement in the designated ocean disposal area, D/A-O, located approximately 12 miles from the project site. Total quantity of material to be dr edged is approximately 925,000 cy. There is an optional bid item A to dredge the north settling basin in 1 foot increments beginning at ??????38 foot required depth up to a maximum depth of ??????43 feet. Hopper Dredges only will be allowed to bid on thi s contract and the hopper dredge will only be allowed to work during the period of 15 December through 28 February. Work also includes sea turtle trawling and relocation, turbidity monitoring and endangered species monitoring. Contract performance period is 110 days including base (101 days) and option (9 days). Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or about 03 September 2003 with bids due on or about 17 October 2003. This solicitation wi ll be issued in electronic format only. All interested bidders must register electronically.
