Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources for a Breech Mounted Laser Igniter (BMLI) System in support of the Future Combat System (FCS) Non-Line of Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) vehicle. The NLOS- C vehicle is a 20 ton 155 mm self propelled howitzer. The products sought include designs, prototypes, models (preferably Pro/Engineer) and analyses, and test results that will be used in design, development, analyses, integration and demonstrations of the laser system. The BMLI system must be shock hardened to withstand the high shock/vibration due to the gun firing and vehicle movement. It must be rugged enough to meet standard military design and military usage (temperature extremes, NBC, etc). The laser system must be in a mature state that requires little engineering development. In addition, the following information is requested: a) drawings showing interface and/ or line drawings (electronic preferred) b) applicable test reports(s) c) commercial operators manual. No classified information should be submitted with this response. Proprietary information must be appropriately marked and will be safeguarded as marked. The preferred response format is Portable Document Format (PDF), with concepts and design solid models in an electronic format compatible with Pro/Engineer. The capabilities sought include analysis, design, development, fabrication, integration, test and evaluation of proposed systems, as well as facilities conducive to assembling breadboard and subsystem prototype hardware, electronics and/or software. In addition, information on risk assessments and risk mitigation plans; recurring and non-recurring cost for development (to include six prototypes). This is a sources sought notice for planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation and does not obligate the Government to issue a solicitation. Interested parties should respond by 17 March 2003 to Jennifer Arber, Contract Specialist, US Army, TACOM-ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APE, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806- 5000; jarber@pica.army.mil; (973) 724-3273
