- The U.S. Geological Survey Earth Surface Processes Team intends to make a sole source award to Philip Dinterman, 860 Olive Street, Menlo Park, CA, to produce 8 digital geologic maps compiled in ArcGIS databases: Bacona, Vernonia, Pittsburg, Birkenfeld, Clear Creek, Sunset Spring, Hamlet, Elsie 7.5' Quadrangles, OR. Technical requirements: 1) Nominal scale of source materials and final product - 1:24000 from source material in hand, provided by Dr. Alan Niem, Oregon State University. 2) Compilation in ArcGIS; Plygons, line and point databases meet minimum Alacarte standards of Wentworth and Fitzgibbon (1991), as modified in Evarts, 2002. 3) Marginal data, cross sections, LMU, DMU, and map collar meet standards of WPG Style Guide 1.2. 4) Final product must include FGDC compliant metadata and plain language description of digital data, and be compiled in acceptable form for USGS technical review. Contractor's unique qualifications: MS in geology and a background in geologic map compilation and syntheses in Tertiary mixed volcanic and sedimentary sequences of the Cascadian forearc. Is experienced with the on site geology, Niem databases, database structure, and USGS data format requirements. Period of performance is 6 month with an option for an additional 6 months. Work to begin 9/29/03. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to respond within fifteen days of this announcement. All responses must be in writing by facsimile to the Contracting Officer at (650) 329-5114 or email vfriesner@usgs.gov. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
