- Description
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) (formerly know as the Health Care Financing Administration) intends to negotiate with Northwest Indian College Training Institute to train and certify billing coders to prepare bills for submission to Medicare and Medicaid fiscal agents for payment. This project will assist CMS in addressing the Secretary?s initiatives to reduce the health disparities in targeted vulnerable communities and will help CMS?s strategic plan goal to improve program beneficiaries? access to quality care. This training is necessary to meet the demand for coding services given the growing utilization of the Medicare and Medicaid programs in the tribal community and the ongoing policy and procedural changes made in these programs that impact payment and billing practices.
