Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), is seeking any commercial sources capable of installing Brake Modification Kits (BMK) on the Logistic Vehicle System (LVS) at or near the vicinity of Camp Lejuene, North Carolina and Camp Pendleton, California. The LVS is the United States Marine Corps? (USMC) heavy haul truck that transports 12.5 tons off-road and 22.5 tons on-road. The vehicle can also tow a 40 ton trailer. The USMC Modification Instruction (MI) specifies approximately 100 hours for two Motor Transport Mechanics per front power unit and rear body unit.vehicle to carry out the installation. The installation includes a 2S2M ABS system on a front and rear body unit, air compressor on a 8V92 engine, air dryer, additional air tanks, new brake linings, actuators and automatic slack adjusters. Three different types of kits (total of approximately 1,000 units), are required to be installed on the following portion of the LVS: Kit 1: MK 48/48A1 Power Unit, Kit 2: Mk14/14A1 Rear Body Container Hauler, MK15/15A1 Rear Body Wrecker/Recovery, MK17/17A1 Rear Body Dropside Cargo/Material Handler Crane, MK18/18A1 Rear Body Ribbon Bridge Container Hauler, Kit 3: MK16/16A1 Rear Body Semi-Trailer Adapter. Vendors must have current knowledge of heavy truck air brake systems and ABS system performance. Teardown of the truck is required to install this kit. As such, the vendor must have a heavy truck shop or the ability to work within the facilities of each base. Installation requires at least 2 persons per truck. Mechanics must be MSE certified. Vendors must have the ability to complete the installation of all Brake Modification Kits within 24 months of any potential contract award. Commercial firms possessing the ability to make the above modifications as noted above are invited to submit the following: (1) Capabilities Statement outlining the vendors ability to install the Brake Modification Kits, (2) Time frame to complete the installations (3) Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) price and (4) corporate history. Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Governments requirements. This sources sought / Request For Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request For Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME.
