- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, Maryland, is seeking eligible small business firms capable of providing 300 sheets (42,000 lbs) of extruded virgin general purpose ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) plastic. Based on a review of industry response to this Sources Sought Synopsis, the Government will decide whether it is appropriate to offer the requirement as a competitive Small Business Set Aside. This office anticipates an award of a contract for this hardware no later than 30 August 2002. The appropriate NAICS is 326199 with a size standard of 500 employees. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential small business sources prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Proposal. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this synopsis. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: The requirement is for 300 sheets (42,000 lbs) of extruded virgin general purpose ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) plastic. The complete specifications are as follows: The sheet size will be 0.156'' x 101''x 228'' and have a tolerance of measurement of 0.2%. Color of the sheets will be 100% olive drab green thru the thickness. The texture will be haircell on one side and smooth on the other. Delivery will be to: US Navy Recreation Center, Building 86, Solomons, MD 20688. It is requested that interested small businesses submit to the contracting office a brief capabilities statement (no more than 5 pages in length, single-spaced, 12 point font minimum) demonstrating capability to provide the required hardware. In the capabilities statement, please include the company profile to include number of employees, annual revenue history, office location(s), DUNs number, and a statement regarding current small business status.
