- Description
- NASA Ames Research Center has a requirement for an upgrade to the existing Accelrys Software license. This purchase will include a suite of scientific software tools for use in the Ames Nanotechnology Branch. Some of these tools will provide a range of life science and chemical modeling environments including, but not limited to: 1.) Protein and peptide design, modification, and analysis; 2.) Static and dynamic structural analysis; 3.) Computation of Poisson-Boltzmann electrostatic potentials of molecular systems; 4.) Comparative model building of proteins; 5.) Electronic structure calculation of carbon nanotubes and semiconductor nanowires; and 6.) Molecular dynamics simulations of carbon nanotubes in liquids and solid matrices. NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from Accelrys Inc. of San Diego, CA under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b)(1), based on the fact that this is an exclusive licensing agreement and only one source is reasonably available. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:30 p.m. Pacific time on August 6, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
