Description
NA The US Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Babington Enterprises of McLean, VA, for one complete manufactured Tray Ration Heating System (TRHS) and one spare TRHS tank and ai rtronic burner unit, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. These items are to be utilized during an Army user demonstration that is designed to allow evaluati on of the current USMC heat-on-the-move capability and for compatibility with current and planned Army field feeding concepts. The TRHS is a field feeding system capable of being installed on a M998 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) and c an prepare hot meals while in transit to a field feeding site. The TRHS is capable of heating sufficient quantities of #10 cans and tray pack rations to feed 250 soldiers in a 90 minute or less meal preparation time. The TRHS components include a tray-pa ck ration heater, tables, utensils, side-loading pan carriers, insulated beverage containers, can openers and a rain cover kit. The TRHS burner operates on standard Army-approved battlefield fuels and uses 120V from the NATO slave receptacle and power inv erter. Babington Enterprises is the only known company to have full rate production capability for the fielded USMC TRHS. Babington can produce a TRHS within 60 days of contract award with no developmental effort or R&D effort required.
