- Description
- The Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) Program is in the process of awarding a Firm Fixed Price production contract action on a sole source basis to Northrop Grumman Corporation for the acquisition of LAIRCM C-130 Shipsets (AN/AAQ-24(v13)), C-130 modifications and installations, and associated spares and support over a four year period. A single Group B system and two Group A systems, with associated support, is planned for FY03 award with an option for three additional Group B systems, six additional Group A systems and associated support for FY04. Options for Interim Contractor Support are planned for FY04-06. The purpose of this contract is to equip and support aircraft in response to the Reno Air National Guard's (ANG)requirement for a common C-130 LAIRCM solution with Air Mobility Command. The AN/AAQ-24 system is already developed, tested, and proven to meet C-130 protection requirements as spelled out in the Multi-Command Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures Operational Requirements Document 314-92. Northrop Grumman has received Configuration Control Board approval to modify C-130 aircraft for LAIRCM installation on AMC C-130 aircraft and will begin the first of eight aircraft installations in Sep 03. Procuring the LAIRCM Group A and Group B from Northrop Grumman will meet AMC's requirements for interchangeable system hardware and meet additional requirements for a common IR countermeasures solution between ANG and AMC aircraft.
