Description
DESCRIPTION: The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 17, 4500 South Lancaster Road, Dallas, Texas, intends to negotiate sole source procurement with Hoana Medical, Inc., 1001 Bishop Street, Suite 2828, American Savings Bank Tower, Honolulu, HI 96813. The contract will be to study the potential impact of a monitoring device for heart and respiratory rate within the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital environment. The contractor shall provide services, materials and equipment to perform data collection and analyses for the Person Intelligent Medical Assistant (PIMA) Project. The objectives are to assess the accuracy, reliability, and validity of Personal Intelligent Medical Assistant (PIMA=92s) Passive Sensory Array =E3 (PSA) device to measure respiratory rate and heart rate in a DoD/VA patient population; Determine the potential impact of using this technology as vigilance monitor on quality of care provided in an Army hospital inpatient general care floor setting; Determine the impact of using this technology on caregiver workflow, and determine optimal alarm management schemes for this patient population. This effort supports a Hui research and development project, which has a concentration in technology development and demonstration/validation.=20 The Government believes that only on responsible source can provide the supplies/services that will satisfy the agency requirements and intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source in accordance FAR 6.302-1.
