- This announcement is to advise interested parties of the FAA's decision to acquire Runway Visual Range (RVR) components for integration with other Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). The GFE consists of data processing units and software, controller displays, sensor interface electronic units, site spares kits, manuals, and other components that remain in FAA inventory because of varied airport site-specific requirements. Under the proposed contract Teledyne will contribute data processing units, sensor assemblies, sensor interface cards, VS filter cables, ASOS cards, calibration plates, and integration testing. The proposed contract will enable the FAA to meet RVR delivery requirements until such time when the FAA completes a competitive procurement. The period of performance for this contract is three years. Teledyne Controls, Inc., Los Angeles, CA is the designer and manufacturer of the RVR FA-10268. They own the proprietary data and are the only manufacturer of a certified visibility sensor necessary for providing RVR data in the National Airspace system. This announcement is NOT a screening information request. The FAA intends to purchase the RVR components from Teledyne Controls, Inc., Los Angeles, CA. Teledyne Controls Inc. is considered the only source who possesses the certified visibility sensors to produce the RVR systems in accordance with FAA engineering requirements and specifications.
