Description
USDA, ARS, SAA intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, MJ Research, Inc. Las Vegas, NV, to provide 5 DNA thermal cyclers. Three of the thermal cyclers must possess the following characteristics: We require DNA thermal cyclers for laboratory analyses of the polymerase chain reaction. For optimum, high-throughput of DNA samples, we require 6 cyclers, configured into 3 pairs. The cyclers must have interchangeable sample blocks, designed to carry both 96-well and 384-well plates. The thermal cyclers must employ technology to allow for optimization of incubation temperatures within a single experiment. The thermal cyclers must employ technology to have uniform temperature between wells on a plate. Each of the 3 double-bay thermal cyclers must have graphical programming with point-and-click navigation via a touch pad or mouse. Each cycler must accommodate multiple sample blocks that are interchangeable; two of the pairs (4 cyclers) should come with 96-well sample blocks and the third pair (2 cyclers) should come with 384-well sample blocks. All cyclers must have software that will allow optimization reactions of temperature within a single experiment. The software must be programmable to set-up a temperature gradient differential of between 1-240C across a 96-well plate. The low and high programmable temperatures should range from 300C to 1050C. Thermal accuracy of the sample blocks must be within + 0.30C of NIST standard at 900C. The thermal range should be from ?50C to 1050C, with a thermal ramping rate of up to 3.00C/sec. The lids must be heated and be manually adjustable for height and pressure. The heat pumps must be designed for repeated cycling within the thermal range. Cyclers must have sufficient memory to store up to 300 programs. Cyclers should have protection from power failures. We require one thermal cycler with four 96 well V-bottom plates or 384 0.2 ml tubes, temperature range ?5 to 105 degrees C, ramp rate 3.0 degrees C/sec, number of programs 400 or more, must come with heated lid, must have gradient capability, must come with networking capability, must come with power failure restart. The fifth thermal cycler required is a refurbished RTC-0220 which includes a two year parts/labor warranty. This procurement will be made pursuant to FAR 6.302-1(2)(C)(ii). No telephone inquiries will be accepted. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. It should be noted that no contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations will be held with Trek Diagnostic Systems without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is August 5, 2003.
