- Description
- This synopsis is being issued for Informational Purposes Only. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, N.J. intends to procure fifty-six (56) each, with an option quantity of twenty-five (25) each, AN/AWM-102, Part Number 3638AS100-1, NSN 6RD-4920-01-9026, Firing Circuit Test Sets. These will be procured from Raytheon Technical Services Company, 6125 E. 21st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219-2058. These Test Sets are in support and in conjunction with multiple aircraft of the Italian, Royal Thai and Spanish Navy FMS Programs and the Spanish, Malaysian, Finnish, Swiss and Kuwait Air Force FMS Programs as well as domestic programs. This Test Set is used to test the firing circuits of various aircraft weapon release and Cartridge Activated (CAD) systems. It will also check the firing voltage and current for sufficient values to cause the charge to explode and eject the weapon/seat from the aircraft. The test set will also check for stray voltages that could cause premature firing of the ejection cartridges. Raytheon Technical Services Company is the only source that has completed the extensive qualification phases necessary for any manufacturer prior to commencing production. They are the only manufacturer of the AWM-102 and are currently under contract with the Navy for these units. Drawings are not available in order to issue a competitive solicitation, therefore, Raytheon is the only source available at this time to furnish these Test Sets. A manufacturer other than Raytheon would also require extensive first article/pre-production testing. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the responses received to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not pay for information received. All responses should be directed to Mrs. Joyce Discenza.
