Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Earthquake Hazards Team, in Menlo Park, CA intends to make a sole source award to Skyline Ridge Inc, Los Gatos, CA for the purchase of non- personnel sequence stratigraphic and sedimentological consulting services for a base and 1 option year commencing on or about Sep 1, 2003. The purpose is to provide interpretive sequence-stratigraphic and sedimentological consulting services to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) FOQUS-LA project, and related efforts that are studying the stratigraphy, sedimentology and physical properties of Quaternary deposits within the Los Angeles coastal plain and adjacent offshore region of sourthern California. Services are required for the development of a 3-D stratigraphic and hydrostratigraphic model of the Quaternary of the Los Angeles basin. Contractor's unique qualifications are: (1) Formal training (M.S. degree, Ph.D) in sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy, and practical expertise in developing sequence-stratigraphic models of siliclastic rocks, particularly in active margin, marine shelf, and non-marine settings. (2) Experience in sequence-stratigraphic well log and seismic interpretation. (3) Experience in application of sequence stratigraphic techniques to hydrostratigraphy and in developing inputs into groundwater flow models. (4) Experience in applying sequence stratigraphy to basin history and tectonic problems. (5) Experience and knowledge of southern California Stratigraphy and tectonics, especially with late Neogene rocks and sediment. (6) Demonstrated knowledge through practical work, of the Los Angeles basin hydrostratigraphy, nomenclature and the stratigraphic framework. (7) Formal training in Earthvision software's Workflow Manager and familiarity with the Geologic Structure Builder. In order to access needed materials and facilities contractor will need to be available to work at the Menlo Park center from time to time. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to respond within ten days of this announcement. All responses must be in writing by facsimile to the Contracting Officer at (650) 329-5114 or email vfriesner@usgs.gov. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. THIS PURCHASE IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
