- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park Stable Isotope Laboratory, Menlo Park, CA intends to make a sole source award to GV Instruments, Hudson, NH for the purchase of Vacuum System Upgrade for already purchased Micromass IsoPrime stable isotope mass spectrometer. Upgrade consists of ITEM 1, the standard vacuum system supplied for Micromass IsoPrime mass spectrometers, pumping system and electronics capable of continuous flow operation with sample introduction via helium stream; ITEM 2, Custom designed "extended" collector system that (1) will be able to analyze masses 48 and 58 of SO and 64 and 66 of SO2 for improved sulfur isotope ratio measurements of organic samples, (2) will have measurement channels with feedback resistors optimized for the natural abundances of the isotopes, and (3) have a 15-fold or greater dynamic range to facilitate sulfur isotope analysis of groups of samples with wide-ranging and undetermined S contents; ITEM 3, the standard diluter kit and interface for connecting an existing elemental analyzer to the mass spectrometer for automated combustion of organic samples for C, N, and S isotopes; ITEM 4, the standard 2-gas reference gas injector box for analyzing samples by continuous flow mass spectrometry, suitable for use with SO2, CO2, CO, N2O, O2, and N2. The Government reserves the right to award only 1 of these items. Required delivery is 30 days after receipt of award. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to respond within ten days of this announcement. All responses must be in writing by facsimile to the Contracting Officer at (650) 329-5114 or email vfriesner@usgs.gov. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. THIS PURCHASE IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
