- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to award a purchase order to Slone Epidemiology Center, Boston University School of Public Health, 1010 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215. The contractor shall provide a summary report of population-based information from a telephone survey about the extent of dietary supplement use and also, the frequency of related adverse event. The report shall describe the proportion of adults in each year of the survey who use vitamins, any herbal supplement, and specific vitamins or herbal supplements; additionally, the report will describe user demographic information, reason for use of these products, seasonality of use and trends in use over the years. The contractor shall also obtain information during the survey on the extent of adverse events that adult consumers experience allegedly due to use of herbals and natural supplements, which supplement was involved, what the event was, whether the consumer reported the event and to whom. After the data is collected, the researcher will perform analysis and provide a summary report of the findings to FDA. The FDA anticipates a seventeen (17) month period of performance. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTES; however, sources may submit descriptive literature which fully demonstrates their capabilities which will be considered by the agency to the following email address: pwright2@cfsan.fda.gov. This requirement is being issued as a sole source because the data requested is proprietary to the contractor and shall be exempted from release under the Freedom of Information Act. The FDA intends to make an award immediately after the response date of this notice. This sole source procurement is being awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5.
