- Description
- Service: Contractor shall process and/or transport Government furnished cylinders, marked both as containing Halon 1301 and empty to be filled with Halon at/from Defense Depot Richmond Virginia (DDRV); weigh cylinders, provide a detailed report of findings, inspect and refurbish Government furnished 1,000 empty cylinders. Material to be processed is contained in 910 filled system and storage containers, approximately 100,000 pounds. Contractor shall then reclaim material to remove physical impurities, package reclaimed Halon 1301 in Government furnished cylinders and have material certified by an independent laboratory that packaged Halon 1301 meets all requirements of ASTM D 5632 Type II specification. Note: Due to safety concerns regarding the configuration and condition of the various valve assemblies, all cylinders containing the Halon 1301 shall be recovered using cylinder-piercing technology. Some of the cylinders containing the Halon 1301 do not meet DOT requirements for transportation and must have the contents transferred to an approved DOT container prior to being transported to the contractor?s facility for processing or be processed on-site.
