- Description
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with the American Thoracic Society, 1730 Broadway, New York, NY 10019, to cosponsor a conference entitled: ?Ethical Research in the ICU? to be held on November 20 & 21, 2003, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. The purpose of this conference is to examine the important issues relating to conducting Ethical research in the ICU, from the point of view of patients, their families, investigators, and sponsoring organizations like the NIH/NHLBI. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirement of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 6, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) applicable to this requirement is 541990. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurements. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PS-2003-098, may be submitted by mail to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Rockledge Building 2, Suite 6042, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-7902, Attention: Deborah Coulter. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
