- NASA/KSC has a requirement for 1 EA. FUSION A64 SERVER, P/N WS-F4/OPT244/8192, TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: MID-TOWER CHASSIS W/450W POWER AND 11 DRIVE BAYS; AMD 8131 & 8111 CHIPSET, 10/100/1000 ETHERNET ONBOARD; 1.8GHZ AMD OPTERON 244 DP CPU'S (2 EA); 8192MB PC2100 REGISTERED ECC DDR; 120GB 7200 RPM ATA100 DISK DRIVE; CDRW 48X24X48, DVD 16X; 1.44 FLOPPY DRIVE; ATI RADEON 7000, 64 MB DDR SDRAM (2-YR WARRANTY; 30-DAY ADVANCED REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS; LIFETIME OLL FREE TECH SUPPORT; AND 1 EA. UPGRADE PACKAGE FOR CURRENT WS CLUSTER SOLUTION, P/N WS-CLST/UPG/SCALI COMPLETE PACKAGE INCLUDES: ONE 4096MB MEMORY UPGRADE FOR MASTER NODE; FIFTEEN 2048MB MEMORY UPGRADES, 1 PER NODE; FOUR 120GB 7200RPM ATA100 DISK DRIVES; (1BOOT DRIVE AND 3 DRIVES FOR DATA); UPGRADE CURRENT PGI COMPILERS FROM 3.1 TO 4.1; ONSITE SERVICE AND INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENT PLUS TRAINING ON SCALI REGARDING HOW TO UPGRADE, HOW TO FIX NODE WITHOUT REBOOTING, TUNING AND OPTIMIZATION, FREE UP OR CLEAR MEMORY, BENCHMARKING SCALI/DOLPHIN AGAINST STANDARD NETWORK, HOW TO UPGRADE LINUX KERNAL ACROSS NODES, NETWORK/INTRA-NETWORK CONFIGURATION AND MOUNT/CROSS MOUNT DRIVES, 3 DAYS. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from WESTERN SCIENTIFIC, 9445 FARNHAM STREET, SAN DIEGO, CA 92123, UNDER THE AUTHORITY 10 U.S.C. 2304 (C)(11), AS THE ONLY ONE RESPONSIBLE SOURCE AND NO OTHER SUPPLIES OR SERVICES WILL SATISFY AGENCY REQUIREMENTS. The Government intends to acquire a commercial items using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 6, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
