Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Dental Research (NIDCR), plans to procure GeneChip System from Affymetrix Inc., 3380 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051. The NIDCR has over the past four years been using cDNA expression arrays to study gene expression profiles for both of their in-vivo and in-vitro experimental systems. The GCS3000 Instrument Systems allows for the interrogation of 33,000 genes using a non-radioactive detection ssystem. This allos for the generation of data that more closely reflects actual changes in gene expression between samples in a safe and efficient manner. The system includes the scanner with cooling unit, fluidics station, hybridization oven and computer work station. The equipment and arrays are commercial as defines in FAR Part 2, and this acquisition is being made in accordance with teh test program using simplified acquisition procedures for certain commercial items as authorized in FAR 13.5. The NAICS code is 334516.This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes that it can meet NIDCR needs, it may submit a capability statement. This statement must demonstrate that the arrays provided will be compatible with the existing equipment and/or that the equipment provided will be compatible with arrays being used. The statement and any other supporting information must be furnished in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NIDCR to determine if the party meets the requirement. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received in the contracting office by 3:00 p.m. EDT, on July 16, 2003 to Carol Hayden, 6011 Executive Blvd., #529T, Rockville, MD 20852. It is the vendor's responsibility to call (301) 402-3340 to insure any questions have been received. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement will be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
