Description
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport has a requirement for supporting the acquisition, development, and testing of Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV), UUV related technologies, and the application of UUVs in meaningful Naval missions. As part of these duties, the UUV branch is coordinating a multi-year Division wide program of in-water demonstrations. This procurement is intended to bring the same navigational capability to NUWC?s latest UUV test bed, the Mid-size Autonomous Research Vehicle, MARV. Under this requirement, the contractor shall provide a SEA DeVil navigation system for the MARV. CLIN 0001 - One (1) SEA DeVil Navigation Unit ? Model #KN6053-(T-24 based INS & GPS ? Identical to the integrated system less DVL & pressure vessel) Including integration support.. Characteristics of the system: Position Accuracy Threshold: 0.1% of Distance Traveled (DT) (maximum), Circular Error Probable Rate (CEPR) Goal: 0.05 % DT, (CEPR); Heading Accuracy 0.5 mils, rms (maximum); Pitch/Roll Accuracy 0.5 mils, rms (maximum); Dimensions 18 x 9 inch cylinder (maximum); Weight 60 pounds (maximum); Power (@ 28 Vdc) 75 Watts (maximum), 50 watts (average); Environment- Flooded; Depth Rating -1000 m (maximum) NOTE: Of these requirements, the "Position Accuracy" is the most critical. As such, Kearfott Guidance & Navigation Corporation is the only known source that can provide the technical expertise in specific sensors as well as a demonstrated methodology for integrating and processing the collected navigation data all within a miniaturized, power efficient package. The Government intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract to Kearfott using the procedures per FAR Part 12 and 13. A request for quote will be issued 02 JUL 2003. Anticipated award date is 03 JUL 2003. Delivery will be F.O.B. destination, Newport, RI approximately 31 AUG 2003. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which shall be considered by the government. Telephone requests will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. NAICS: 334511.
