Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), in collaboration with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is conducting a study to determine the relationship between occupational radiation exposure and the frequency of chromosomal aberrations (CA's). The acquisition will be conducted under the procedures for acquiring commercial items authorized in FAR Part 12 and the authority to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements provided in FAR 13. The North American Industry Classification System code is 541380 and the business size standard is $6M. Period of Performance: upon award through twelve (12) months with one (1) twelve (12) month option year. FAR Clause 52.217-8 Option to Extend Services (November 1999) and FAR Clause52.217-9 Option to Extend the Term of the Contract (March 2000) apply). Background: The NCI in collaboration NIOSH is conducting a study to determine the relationship between occupational radiation exposure and the frequency of chromosomal aberrations (CAs) in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of a group of radiologic technologists estimated to have moderate and high cumulative radiation exposure based on reconstructed doses from work histories and some limited badge dose measurements. A comparison group of radiologic technologists estimated to have low cumulative exposure will also be selected who were eligible (certified) to work, but worked either few years or not at all. These persons are mostly 70 years old or older. NCI requires the services of a laboratory to prepare metaphase spreads from fresh blood samples and to apply fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques to detect (score) the number of CAs. Solicitation: The RFQ must be requested by electronic mail or facsimile only. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Requests for the RFQ shall be made to the attention of Malinda Holdcraft, Purchasing Agent via electronic mail at holdcram@exchange.nih.gov or fax at 301-402-4513. Requests shall include name of the contractor, DUNS number, telephone number, fax number, point of contact, business size standard, and identify the RFQ requested as RFQ-NCI-30083-NG. The estimated issue date of the solicitation package is July 11, 2003 and the estimated due date is July 23, 2003
