Description
This notice is for informational purposes only. This is a notice of intent to negotiate a sole-source purchase with Fluent, Inc., Lebanon, NH. This procurement is for a Process License for Fluent CFD Software. The Fluent code includes three major components including: 1)Gambit Preprocessor; 2)Fluent 4 and Fluent 6 Solvers and; and 3) FLPost Post Processor. Gambit includes a comprehensive top down modeling tool which allows for rapid creation of three dimensional solids using direct creation of bricks, cylinders, spheres. Also, the capability to use boolean modifiers like intersect, unite, split and subtract helps to create more complex geometries. The automated meshing tool provides se4veral meshing schemes including: map, submap, Cooper, tetrahedral element as well as the capability to have hybrid unstructured and structured meshes. The geometry build and automated mesh generation tools provide unique strengths which minimize complexity and maximize productivity in building and discretizing the computational domain. The fluent 6 solution code provides a segregated and coupled solver for all flow regimes including incompressible to supersonic flows. Fluent 5 contains a variety of turbulence models including: multiple k-e models for solution of standard and complex flows (swirling) and a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) for resolving large turbulent flow structures. It also allows for turbulence suppression in user specified zones. The Fluent 4 solution code provides some advanced physical models not available in Fluent 6, but is limited to subsonic flows computer on structured grids. This is a Simplified Acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.00.
