- Description
- The Defense Distribution Depot Red River Texarkana, Texas (DDRT) has a requirement for repair of a Whiting 60 Ton Bridge Crane (s/n 11733). Necessary repairs were identified as deficiencies and recommendations by an AE Analysis of the crane. The deficiencies identified in the analysis are as follows: 1) Bolt (2) hoists? brake covers to their bases per OSHA 1910.179 (e)(6)(ii). 2) Replace hook bearing assembly on west hook per OSHA 1910.179(h)(4). 3) Repair compressor electrification system and air leakds in pneumatic system per OSHA 1910.179 (j)(2). 4) Install energy-absorbing primary bridge bumpers per OSHA 1910.179 (e)(2)(i). 5) Replace tie downs on both bridges per OSHA 1910.179(b)(4). 6) On both hoists, replace wire ropes per OSHA 1910.179 (M)(1). 7) Straighten main bridge runway per CMAA (1.4) Standard. Currently runway is out of tolerance. Recommendations identified in the analysis for repairs are as follows: 1) Entire crane structure shall be blasted to bare metal to provide a clear, dry, surface, free of all mill scale, oil grase, dirt, rust or other inhibiting material and shall be primed and painted with weather-resistant paint. 2) Replace bridge ductobar electrification system with new festoon system (17 x 126?) or new ductobar type system. 3) Replace trolley ductobar electrification system with new festoon system (15 x 60?) or new ductobar type system. 4) Replace (3) electrical control cabinets each on both bridges per OSHA 1910.179 (g)(2)(ii). 5) Replace hydraulic lines to bridge breaking systems. 6) Repair broken alignment keys on both sides of secondary bridges. 7) Replace energy-absorbing secondary bridge bumpers per OSHA 1910.179 (e)(2)(i). 8) Replace/Repair operator?s cab and cab door.
