Description

The solicitation will be available at http://ideasec.nbc.gov Website on or about Monday, July 7, 2003. PAPER COPIES OF THIS SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This project consists of the repair and rehabilitation of the historic Hamilton Canal gates at Lowell National Historical Park, Lowell, MA by replacement of deteriorated timbers in gate and restoration and treatment of all metal work associated with canal gates and their operation, excluding winch mechanisms. The work includes vegetation, earth, and debris removal from site, dredging of canal, removal of gates, dismantling of timber, iron and steel, timber and metal replacements, metal preparation, painting of metal, reassembling of gates, and reinstallation of gates. Straps and all associated metal features to remain shall be cleaned, treated, painted, and repaired where necessary. Winch mechanism to be detached from granite, secured, crated, and transported to Park Maintenance Shop. Repair granite quoins, clean and realign platform stones. Contractor shall not damage historic fabric, including straps, wood timbers to remain, granite platform, winch mechanisms to be transported and canal walls when repairing and installing gate. Construction performance period is 60 calendar days. Estimated construction range: Between $25,000 and $100,000. NAICS code 237990, $28.5 million. This solicitation is subject to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is subject to full and open competition. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
