Description
Naval Air Systems Command intends to modify contract N00019-03-C-6517 to build a CV-22 Cabin Part Task Trainer. The CV-22 Cabin Part Task Trainer (CPTT) will provide the initial hands on training capability for CV-22 Flight Engineers. This device will consist of two parts, providing training for cargo handling, (load, unload, restraint, and airdrop rigging), ingress/emergency egress, manual release/operation of the windows and doors, and the Cockpit Management System (CMS). The fuselage trainer is a full-sized replica of the fuselage from the nose to the end of the horizontal stabilizer, including the lower portion of the vertical stabilizer. It will have a self-contained hydraulic system and transportable undercarriage allowing for easy transport. In addition to the above trainer, an examination of the Flight Engineers enabling objectives has identified the need for a desktop device to introduce the aircraft?s complex CMS to the Flight Engineer. This device should not be a part of the fuselage trainer, but a PC based device that would allow the student to navigate CMS layers as well as run checklists in a classroom environment. Together, these devices will form the CPTT and provide for training that would otherwise be accomplished on the actual aircraft thus eliminating the need and risk of scheduling a mission ready aircraft. Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office (JPO), 47123 Buse Rd. Patuxent River, MD 20670 will perform the work The CPTT will be co-located with the V-22 Naval Aviation Maintenance Trainer Suite (NAMTS) at New River MCAS, Jacksonville, North Carolina. The Bell-Boeing team is the designer, developer and sole producer of the CV-22 tilt rotor aircraft and is currently performing the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) and the low-rate initial-production (LRIP) of these aircraft. Bell-Boeing is the only source that possesses the engineering data; technical skills; and requisite knowledge of the design, fabrication, performance, and operational characteristics of the CV-22 aircraft to design and build the CPTT.See Note 22
