Description
NA In the spirit of the Army's 'Lean' initiative to improve both manufacturing and administrative processes, the AMRDEC Industrial Operations Division (IOD), the Aviation Engineering Directorate, the Competition Management Office and the Acquisition Center ha ve teamed to 'lean' the Source Approval Process (SAR) procedure for prospective suppliers of 'AVIATION' spare and repair parts only. The result of this effort is a simplified process for vendors to become approved sources, and includes a new automation to ol: the CAPSAR. The link to the CAPSAR program is available on the CMO website located at http://www.redstone.army.mil/cmo. (NOTE: The Maintenance & Overhaul (M&O) SAR process is not automated.) The CAPSAR system, which went on line in May, utilizes electronic file transfer, an Internet-based infrastructure and validated logic to provide an intelligent structure to submit, evaluate, track and approve SAR requests. The system allows the potential supplier to submit required documentation via the Internet. Submittal of the SAR generates a tracking record within the CAPSAR database so that meaningful metrics can be established for the process. Links to manufacturer-submitted documents provide a sea mless flow of information through the system from initial submittal to the subject matter expert. Flagging of the records allows immediate identification of the transaction status. In addition, since the SAR process will no longer rely on paper documenta tion, concurrent processes may transpire to expedite the approval procedure.
