- Description
- The project consists of reconstructing portions of the Great Western Trail within the Fishlake National Forest. Work includes furnishing of treated timber and metal components to construct wood culverts, furnishing and installing wire baskets for a wood culvert footing, furnishing and placing geosynthetic materials, furnishing and placing aggregate embankments, furnishing and installing plastic pipe, excavation and placing embankments, placing of riprap/boulder material for erosion protection, obliteration of abandoned trail, removal of metal culvert, clearing and grubbing, construction of trailway, installing waterbars, and related work associated with reconstruction and realignment of an all terrain vehicle trail. Existing trail and road conditions vary between work areas; improvement of roads and trails may be necessary for motorized access. Contract work includes base items plus additives #1 and #2 depending on the funding. The project has a Government estimate between $25,000 - $100,000. 100% payment bond or Irrevocable letter of credit is required after award. The approximate posting date for the solicitation and applicable drawings / maps will be 26 June 2003 to this same website. There will be a show-me trip on 10 July 2003 @ 10:00 a.m. Those interested will meet at Site # 7, which is shown on our Forest Maps as Niotche Creek Tailhead. The easier access is the South End of County Road 640 that begins near Johnson Valley Reservoir in the Fishlake Basin. Contractors would be advised to pick up a Fishlake National Forest Travel Map to find the locations of these areas. If contractors would like to view additional sites, they should bring an ATV.
