Description
It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Research Services (ORS), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Veterinary Resources Program (VRP) to purchase superior quality nonhuman primates (NHPs) for the various NIH Researchers to be used in their approved animal study protocols. Specifically, the contractor shall provide and deliver the nonhuman primates as requested by individual order: (1) Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) and Non-SPF, Macaca Mulatta (rhesus), monkeys Chinese or Indian Origin, Male or Female, Any Date of Birth, and any Weight; (2) SPF and Non-SPF, Macaca Fascicularis, (cynomolgus) monkeys, Mauritius Origin, Male or Female, Any Date of Birth, and any Weight; (3) Cercopithecus aethiops (African green) monkeys, SPF, Male or Female, Any Date of Birth, and any Weight; (4) SPF, Squirrel, Monkeys, Male or Female, Any Date of Birth, any Weight. Blood Sampling, Crating, Transportation, Housing and Per Diem, are also required. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 424520, Size Standard is 100 employees, is identified for this requirement. Multiple award, indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity contracts are anticipated for an award for this requirement. There are no set-aside restrictions for this requirement. Awards may be made to all qualified large businesses, small business and educational institutional that are capable and deemed technically acceptable to supply and house the nonhuman primates. Awards will be made only to an applicant organization that possess or has filed an application with the Office for Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW), National Institutes of Health (NIH), PHS, a written Animal Welfare Assurance which commits the organization to comply with the provisions of the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory. The Solicitation document will be released on or about June 16, 2003, with proposals due on or about July 1, 2003.
