Description
The Atlantic Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Norfolk, Virginia Contracts Office is seeking, for information and planning purposes, qualified and experienced sources interested in providing retro-fit conversions of crew-cabs on a custom fire apparatus, in accordance with NFPA 1901 standards, for an engine currently in-use in Naples, Italy. This conversion is believed to be best performed by the original equipment manufacturer, Pierce Manufacturing, 2600 American Drive, Appleton, WI 54915-9010. This company manufactured this structural pumper, and has the best known capability to perform the retro-fit conversion to NPFA standards and to be able to lengthen the useful lifespan, in strict adherence to OEM standards, and to maintain the critical performance capabilities of the fire truck, in a manner that meets the time-demands of returning the unit to service in Naples, Italy in the shortest amount of time. Interested sources with the prerequisite capability should provide a company brochure with cover letter explaining the capabilities of the company to meet the necessary conversion to Commander, Atlantic Division, Navy Facilities Engineering Command (Code AQ121), 1510 Gilbert Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23511-2699 or email address abelldj@efdlant.navfac.navy.mil by 9 June 2003. If no responses are received, the Government shall consider the use of Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. as the only known source. This is not a Request for Proposal. The government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Point of Contact is Deborah Abell (757) 322-4163 or facsimile (757) 322-4142/4144.
