Description
NA The Solicitation is to provide for single Freight Forwarding Service for government ammunition shipment of 34,000 up to 39,500 short tons of various conventional munitions from one Government facility to four other Government facilities within the Continen tal United States. Completion date of this service is 31 Dec 2003 The Government will be responsible for: 1. Packing and loading delivered conveyances (motor vehicles/railcars) at Sierra Army Depot, Herlong, CA. The asset listing and receiving destinations will be made available at time of RFP release. The four locations for delivery are: 1) Crane Army Ammunition Activity, IN, 2) Hawthorne Army Depot, NV, 3) McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, OK, 4) Tooele Army Depot, UT. The Contractor shall be responsible for: 1. Obtaining all necessary Ammunition Grade transport vehicles for Sierra Army Depot personnel to load. Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong, CA. 2. Complete all documentation and coordination required by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Defense (DOD), and other agencies governing transportation of ammunition and explosives (A&E). 3. Complying with all DoD, Federal, state and local statutes and regulations addressing transportation, safety, and security requirements related to U.S. owned ammunition assets. 4. Transporting all assets by rail or motor vehicle with intransit security services equal to or greater than U.S. DoD requirements to final destination in accordance with Federal, state, and local requirements. Anticipated contract will be firm fixed price. Award will be made on a Best Value Basis. Offerors will be required to submit recent relevant past performance information which will demonstrate ammunition transportation expertise. The contract will be subject to the Service Contract Act. Anticipated RFP release date is 09 June 2003.
