- Description
- Sources are sought in research and development by the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate Ordnance Division (AFRL/MNM) for Adaptable Miniaturized Initiation System Technology (AMIST) to provide focused energy warhead multirole munition initiation capability. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to obtain qualification packages from contractors interested in submitting proposals for the Adaptable Miniaturized Initiation System Technology. The AMIST contractor will design, fabricate and test an initiation system capable of individually programming and initiating 64 initiation points. The system shall be capable of continuously receiving mode commands, programming each initiation point in accordance with the received mode command, and providing the explosive output at each firepoint as prescribed by the mode command. The system shall have both nonautonomous and autonomous modes of operation. Autonomous operation is defined as continued function of AMIST upon disconnection from the mode controller. Nonautonomous operation is defined as function of AMIST while connected to the mode controller. The successful contractor must be qualified for explosives/approved facility. This program will last approximately 49 months, during which time, the offeror shall: ? Prepare a System Requirements Document (SRD) ? Prepare and Update System Specification ? Investigate candidate component technologies for the mode controller and fire point modules (FPMs) ? Develop an AMIST prototype design ? Build and test an AMIST prototype unit consisting of a mode controller and firepoint modules ? Develop an AMIST demonstration unit ? Build and test an AMIST demonstration unit consisting of a mode controller and firepoint modules. ? Deliver two AMIST mode controllers and 100 firepoint modules Responses to this Sources Sought Synopsis must be received in this office no later than 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2003. Responses may be faxed to the attention of Robin L. Gibson, Contract Specialist, (850) 882-9599.
