- NAICS Code: 334516 The U.S. EPA, National Risk Management Research Laboratory intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Beckman Instruments Inc. for an OPTIMA XL-100 Ultracentrifuge which is comparable with an older Beckman centrifuge currently being used. Additionally, the Beckman rotors currently being used will fit the OPTIMA XL-100 Ultracentrifuge from Beckman. The ultracentrifuge unit shall (1) be safety rated S; (2) include a Dynamic Rotor Inertia Check (DRIC) system; (3) shall have an Efficient Sedimentation Program ESP) or comparable system; (4) capable of running int Beckman CF-32Ti; (5) have automatic restart capability; (6) operate in ambient temperature range of 15C to 40C; (7) equipped with induction drive and speed control of +/-20 RPM at 100,000rpm; (8) unit drive must be a vacuum encased induction drive with cooling system that will operate over a temperature range of 0 to 40C with a 10 year warranty on drive; (9) put out less than 3412 BTU/hr of heat ; and (10) a Titanium fixed angle rotor capable of 100,000 rpm that will accept a range of tubes form 2ml to 6ml that can achieve g forces in excess of 800,000. provide support documentation. This acquisition is being processed under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. EPA believes Beckman Instruments is uniquely qualified to meet this requirement for the reasons given. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. However, any firm believing itself capable of meeting EPA requirements may submit technical documentation to establish the potential of complying with the statement of work. Such documentation must be submitted to the POC within 10 days of electronic posting of this notice. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the EPA. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement or to proceed on a sole source basis.
