- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station (NSWCDD CSS), Panama City, Florida, intends to award a sole-source purchase order to Chesapeake Sciences Corporation (CSC) of 1127B Bedford Blvd, Maryland 21108 for Fiber Optic Range Development. The Fiber Optic Range upgrade began in calendar year 2000 as a Capital Procurement Program at CSS. The Range upgrade system is based on ATAPI telemetry for the fiber optic communication, a proprietary communication protocol developed by CSC. This acquisition is unsuitable for full and open competition for the following reasons: CSC is the only company that can work with this protocol. All components required to complete this final 15% of this system must be compatible with hardware already in place. Use of any other manufacturers equipment would cost the Government additional time and money while attempting to integrate the different systems. Thus Chesapeake Sciences Corporation (CSC) is the only vendor that can meet this requirement. NAICS Code 541330 Applies
