- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source purchase order with University of North Carolina for research services to advance the accuracy of dimensional measurements of small holes, i.e. from 0.5 mm down to 20 ?m. The personnel of the University has extensive expertise that focuses on precision engineering and dimensional metrology. The University has the unique capabilities in the specialty engineering area of interest of the Engineering Metrology Group, and is the only available organization that possesses the background and capabilities in very high accurate dimensional measurement adequate to pursue the project. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order on or about June 04, 2003. The proposed requirement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, the government will consider all capability statements received by June 04, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available.
