Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Hart Scientific, of American Fork, Utah for one (1) set of thermometry equipment including software and training. This equipment will be used by the NIST Manufacturing Metrology Division to complete an in-house thermometer probe calibration system. This thermometry equipment is compatible with the following existing parts of the system: 1590 Super-Thermometer II, 2590 ?Mighty-Mux II,? and 5680 Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer Probe previously purchased from Hart Scientific. The resulting complete system will be used to calibrate thermometer probes used in its mass laboratories. ***Sole Source determination is based on the need for the thermometry calibration equipment to have complete compatibility with the existing NIST equipment so as to make the system fully operational without adding substantial expense, integration, or development time delays to the Government. Hart Scientific is the only known vendor who possesses equipment that can provide a ?drop in? set of thermometry calibration equipment that will have absolute functional and software compatibility with NIST?s current system. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees. ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by May 27, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
