Description
The Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS), a Primary Level Field Activity (PLFA) of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is seeking sources that can assist DRMS in fulfilling our mission of demilitarizing excess property turned into DRMS as a result of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This support is required in Kuwait and surrounding areas. It is envisioned that the contractor will provide equipment and personnel for demilitarizing property. Demilitarization is the act of destroying the military offensive or defensive advantages inherent in certain types of equipment or material. The term comprehends mutilation, cutting, crushing, scrapping, melting, burning, or alteration designed to prevent further use of its originally intended military or lethal purpose and applies equally to material in unserviceable or serviceable condition. The equipment required to perform demilitarizing may include, but not be limited to, shredders, cutters, torches and heavy equipment for crushing equipment. It is also envisioned that the contractor may provide support in receiving, storing and accounting for property turned into DRMS. This may include, but is not limited to, updating accountable property systems, customer assistance, and moving material. It is requested that contractor?s interested in being considered a source for this service provide their business size, a summary of their history of performing these functions and the capabilities they have for providing this type of support in the Middle East. Please provide this information to Mr. Keith Bloomensaat by mail at the Contracting Office Address above attention DRMS-POB or fax or e-mail.
