Description
The Department of Defense Electronic Mall (DOD EMALL) Team is submitting the following Request for Information (RFI) regarding Custom Pack And Ship (CPAS) services. The objective of the DOD EMALL evaluation will be to assess tools or technologies that manage the transportation movement in support of OCONUS customer shipments and consolidation of CONUS orders into single shipments. These tools should address the five focus areas: 1) receiving; 2) cross-docking; 3) short term storage; 4) pick and packing; and 5) shipping. The CPAS should allow the OCONUS and CONUS DOD EMALL customer to receive items purchased in a shopping cart in a single shipment. Tools should: contain a catalog that describes the services offered; support the customer in requesting a CPAS price for a specified set of services for a specific set of items in a shopping cart; allow collaboratively priced services; report status on the shopping cart once per day after the first item is received at the CPAS supplier?s location; and provide in-transit visibility. Customers will review the proposed shipping costs based on destination and weight and optional special packing requirements and elect to accept or reject the proposed shipping arrangements. The proposed price will become a line item in the shopping cart in cases where the customer accepts the proposal. The DOD EMALL is interested in finding Carriers or VENDORS of commercial transportation tools or technologies, who are experienced in the movement of commercial goods to government customers in OCONUS and are willing to consolidate CONUS shipments. Based upon the responses to this RFI, the DOD EMALL Team will select the appropriate tools and systems for assessment. If you or your organization is involved in the area of distribution within OCONUS and consolidation of CONUS shipments, please refer to the procurement and contracts web site listed below. Further information concerning the details of DOD EMALL can be found on the DOD EMALL website, http://www.emall.dla.mil. Request interested parties submit a capabilities statement not to exceed 20 pages, single spaced to Ms. Brenda Geist (brenda.geist@dla.mil) no later than 2:00 p.m., 13 June 2003.
