Her address is as follows: USAMISSA-San Antonio Attention: Joyce Baker 2455 NE Loop 410, Ste 150 San Antonio, TX 78217-5607 This Request for Information (RFI) issued by the US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is to solicit information from potential sources of industry on the solicitation approach that will assist the United States Army Medical Information S ystems and Services Agency (USAMISSA) and the Dental Command (DENCOM) in formulating a best value approach to meet the following server/communications consolidation requirements. This is not a request for proposals. Information obtained as a result of thi s posting may be used in the development of the Statement of Work for the solicitation. The project will include computer room consolidations at three government facilities; two in San Antonio, Texas and one in Ft Detrick, Frederick, Maryland. All of the computer room facilities are comprised of multi-functional, multi-system, and multi-platform systems. The locations are as follows: (1) USAMISSA-San Antonio Greenway Park 2455 NE Loop 410 Ste 1009 San Antonio, TX 78217 POC: Bill Strout (210-637-2242) Tony Solis (210-637-2263) (2) DENCOM-San Antonio Energy Plaza 8610 N. New Braunfels Ste 200 San Antonio, TX 78216 POC: MAJ Mike Fravell (210-829-2904) POC: SFC James Dycus (210-829-2911) (3) USAMISSA-Frederick 1422 Sultan Drive Room 201 Fort Detrick, Maryland POC: Noel Werking (301-619-7508) POC: Alexa Masser (301-619-2008) RFI SCOPE: It is the government?s intent to use the gathered information initially for cost and feasibility planning and potentially for the basis of a future contract/delivery order. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of thi s RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and the Government's use of such information. Respondent s of this RFI may be requested to provide additional information/details based on their initial submittals. The intent of this RFI is to determine the most cost effective way to consolidate each of the computer rooms at each location without loss of functionality or compatibility. An On-Site Visit to each location is recommended and shall be performed at no cos t to the Government. Please contact the above points of contact for each location to schedule the visits. The following questions are posed: ?How does industry recommend that the Government consolidate resources such as servers and associated communications equipment to reduce the number of servers? Does industry have specific suggestions for how the Government should centralize storage area networks at each location? ?Does industry have suggestions how the Government can protect application integration while maintaining security? Each Government location currently utilizes such platforms and applications as NT, Lotus, Linux, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2000 advanced, UNIX, VMS, Oracle and SQL to support various operational areas and projects. There are numerous servers in wh ich government propriety applications are being used. Some government propriety applications are: TAMMIS, FTDTL, SWSMIS, SRTS, ATAAPS, AIRS, ALORES, STANFINS, ATAAPS, DbCAS, SPS, etc. HARDWARE- USAMISSA-San Antonio: The USAMISSA San Antonio, Greenway Park facility has approximately 177 servers and associated network communications currently in use, such as: (22) Hewlett Packard (28) COMPAQ (13) Sun (7) Austin (8) Gateway (61) Dell (11) Micron Remaining 27 items consists of Bay, Everex, Cisco, Digital, Brady, and U.S. Robotics. HARDWARE ? DENCOM-SAN ANTONIO The DENCOM facility has approximately 32 servers and associated network communications currently in use, such as: Dell Cisco In-Reach Alteon RAD HARDWARE-USAMISSA-FORT DETRICK The USAMISSA-Fort Detrick facility has approximately 257 servers, an IBM OS/390 mainframe and associated network communications currently in use, such as: Dell Cisco Hewlett Packard Compaq Gateway Micron The Point of Contact for this RFI is Ms. Joyce Baker.
