- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) located in Boulder, Colorado has a requirement for the construction of a new Central Utility Plant (CUP), Phase 1 at the Boulder Laboratory site at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO. The purpose of this requirement is to provide Phase 1 of a new 24,000 SF state-of-the-art CUP facility that is code compliant, sustainable, energy efficient, safe, accessible, user friendly, and easily maintainable. This phase of the project shall be planned to be adaptable to a future Phase 2 of the CUP as well as a new Site Utility Distribution System (SUDS) also to be included in Phase 2. Phase 2 is not a part of this requirement. Phase 1 of the CUP includes the construction of the following: (1) the entire CUP building; (2) paved parking lots and drives including provisions for Boulder Fire Department access; (3) storm water drainage and detention facility; (4) landscape and irrigation system; (5) required utility connections; (6) steam and compressed air services to Buildings 2 and 3; and (7) removal and disposal of two old boilers located in Building 3. The plans and specifications to be issued with this solicitation are preliminary in nature and are to be used for project familiarization only and not used for construction. A complete design update is expected to be issued by July 7, 2003. This design update will be used as a basis for the construction of the CUP and will be forwarded to all bidders that had requested a copy of the solicitation document. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued by June 16, 2003 and bids would be due July 31, 2003. The delivery schedule for completion of construction is 12 months after the Notice to Proceed. The estimated price range for this requirement is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. THIS ACQUISITION IS RESTRICTED TO COLORADO ELIGIBLE 8(A) FIRMS ONLY. The NAICS code for this requirement is 236220 ($28.5 Million).
