- LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS LICENSEES TO COMMERCIALIZE A THERMAL CYCLER FOR PCR SYSTEMS Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to manufacture and market its next generation thermal cycler for use in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) systems. The thermal cycler is designed to be versatile, small, fast, robust, low power and low cost. It is suitable for either flow systems or sequestered samples, accommodating volumes from several microliters to several hundred microliters, with excellent temperature uniformity throughout the sample. Cycling speed is inherently fast due to small size and efficient heat transfer, with the cooling rate being driven by air flow. The system is highly modular, allowing a wide choice of packaging options, including arrays of cycling chambers. Real-time optical detection is also an option, depending on the needs and application of the particular PCR system involved. The design also makes full use of off-the-shelf components and existing fabrication technologies to provide a low cost advantage at both the component and manufacturing levels. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. LLNL is seeking licensees with a demonstrated ability to bring such inventions to the market. Moving critical technology beyond the Laboratory to the commercial world helps our US licensees gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. The University of California?s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory can license technology through exclusive or nonexclusive licensing agreements as appropriate. All projects are conducted under policies relating to the strict nondisclosure of company proprietary information. Companies interested in developing and commercializing LLNL's chemical sensor technology should provide a written statement of interest, which includes the following: 1. Company Name and address. 2.
