- VENDORS NEEDED IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL FIRE PLAN The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is seeking interested companies, non-profits, and other entities who can provide services, equipment, or supplies in support of the National Fire Plan. The National Fire Plan (NFP) is a coordinated effort to prevent, control, and suppress wildland fires, as well as rehabilitate fire-affected areas across the United States. Partners in this NFP effort include: Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Association of State Foresters. Please see the following websites for more information on the National Fire Plan: http://www.fireplan.gov and the FWS's Fire web site at: http://fire.fws.gov. Contractor support in hazardous fuel suppression and rehabilitation projects is needed. A particular emphasis is on identifying interested small businesses (including 8(a)'s and others) in the local geographic area where many of these fire projects will be conducted. FWS is looking for, but is not limited to, the following types of services, equipment, and supplies: tree thinning, tree planting services, range fire suppression and pre-suppression services, forest fire rehabilitation services, various professional services, fire fighting equipment and supplies, tractors, and agricultural supplies. Services and equipment in support of FWS shall be provided primarily for use on the National Wildlife Refuge System throughout the United States. Vendors and others who offer capabilities to support the FWS in the National Fire Plan should submit company information, capability statement and/or product/price information electronically to Jim McKoy, FWS National Small Business Development Specialist at Jim_McKoy@fws.gov by May 30, 2003. Due to the often urgent need for services and supplies in support of the National Fire Plan, this announcement shall constitute the fifteen day pre-solicitation notice required by FAR 5.203(a) for future requirements.
